About the role
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end NGS workflows, including nucleic acid extraction, library preparation, and sequencing.
- Prepare RNA and DNA sequencing libraries using both kit-based and custom workflows.
- Perform library QC, pooling, and sequencing setup for Illumina and Nanopore platforms.
- Operate and maintain sequencing instruments to ensure consistent performance and uptime.
- Utilize automated liquid handling systems for sample extraction and processing.
- Troubleshoot workflow issues, identify root causes, and implement process improvements.
- Analyze and interpret QC metrics and experimental data to communicate results to stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate documentation within LIMS and ELN systems.
Requirements
- BS/BA in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genomics, or a related field.
- 2+ years of relevant experience in an NGS-focused laboratory setting.
- Hands-on expertise in sequencing library preparation and molecular biology techniques.
- Experience operating NGS instrumentation (e.g., Illumina, Nanopore, Qubit, Nanodrop).
- Proficiency with liquid handling automation (e.g., Echo, Mantis, or Hamilton).
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to work onsite full-time in Cambridge, MA.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in an NGS-focused lab.
- Experience with complex workflows such as single-cell genomics or low-input samples.
- Experience with high-throughput production workflows and automation.
- Background in supporting drug development or platform-based research programs.
- Ability to interpret complex sequencing QC metrics and data quality outputs.
