Sr Product Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Serve as a critical member of the engineering team responsible for building client player and playback experiences using BrightScript and the Roku SceneGraph SDK
• Contribute to the development of new application features across various domains, including the player
• Build supporting tools and systems, including JavaScript/React-based web tools, gulp build scripts, AWS configurations, and Node.js services
• Partner with Roku to evaluate new hardware, firmware, and certification requirements from a client application perspective
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to communicate technical requirements and device limitations

Requirements

• At least 5 years of development experience with a client-side development stack
• Minimum of 2 years of experience with BrightScript
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field (or equivalent professional experience)
• Proven experience with MVVM (Model-View-ViewModel) architecture
• Proficiency in technical design and the development of generalized solutions, such as reusable UI components and utilities
• Experience mentoring junior-level team members

Preferred Qualifications

• Extensive experience creating performant, pixel-perfect user interfaces and animations
• Knowledge of common patterns and architectures for data-driven UX
• Familiarity with troubleshooting on set-top boxes or Smart TVs
• Experience with player technologies such as HLS, MPEG-DASH, Transport Stream, and CMAF
• Experience with asynchronous/concurrent code and unit testing patterns
• Proficiency with DevOps tools including Jenkins, gulp, and AWS
• Experience with JavaScript client- and server-side development
