About the role
Responsibilities
- Support the management of the Contractor Safety Management Program (CSMP) for a new manufacturing site in Richmond, VA
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for department HSE documents, standards, and environmental permits
- Coach project teams on compliance, hazard recognition, risk assessment, and safety processes (LOTO, Confined Space, etc.)
- Conduct HSE project field execution inspections against regulatory, corporate, and GFD HSE standards
- Lead and support investigations and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for unplanned or adverse incidents
- Develop and analyze leading and lagging safety indicators for the project
- Transition to a site HSE operations role upon completion of construction and commissioning
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related technical field
- Minimum of 5 years of HSE experience
- At least 5 years of experience delivering capital projects
- Deep experience with 29 CFR 1926 construction regulations
- Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience supporting contractor safety management programs or permit-to-work (PTW) systems
- Experience with OSHA regulations and risk management practices
- Proven ability to influence Project Managers and Contractors without direct authority
- Experience in greenfield, major capital project delivery, or startup environments
- OSHA 30 Hour for Construction training
