About the role

Responsibilities

  • Architect and design SiC-MOSFET-based motor drives, active rectifiers, and DC/DC converters
  • Lead schematic capture and PCB layout for high-voltage, high-current power stages
  • Design gate-drive circuits, including isolated drivers and protection circuitry
  • Design magnetic components such as DC-link inductors, chokes, and isolation transformers
  • Lead thermal design of converter assemblies, including heatsink and cold-plate selection
  • Design EMI/EMC mitigation strategies to meet DO-160 requirements
  • Define protection architecture for overvoltage, overcurrent, and overtemperature detection
  • Lead board bring-up, double-pulse testing, and converter characterization
  • Produce deliverables aligned with DO-254, DO-160, and ARP4754B standards

Requirements

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of experience designing high-power motor drives or power converters
  • Expertise in SiC MOSFET-based converter design and parasitic management
  • Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout for high-power, high-voltage systems
  • Solid magnetics design experience including core/winding selection and loss analysis
  • Working knowledge of thermal management and liquid-cooled architectures
  • Experience with EMI/EMC design and mitigation
  • Hands-on lab proficiency with high-voltage bench work and testing equipment
  • Familiarity with SPICE or converter-level simulation tools like PLECS or LTspice

Preferred Qualifications

  • Aerospace or eVTOL powertrain experience with FAA/EASA certification familiarity
  • Experience with DO-254 compliance and requirements traceability
  • Experience designing converters for high-speed PMSMs
  • Experience with high-power-density liquid-cooled converter assemblies
  • Familiarity with battery-pack interfaces and high-voltage DC distribution
  • Experience taking hardware from prototype through DVT and qualification testing
  • Working knowledge of CAN, CAN-FD, and Ethernet hardware interfaces
