Sr. Power Electronics Engineer, Magnetics

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of custom magnetic components for high-frequency power converters used in electric vehicle applications
• Manage the full lifecycle of magnetic components from specification and design to prototyping, testing, and validation
• Perform analysis and design trade-off studies of magnetics within power converters
• Collaborate closely with power electronics and mechanical teams to develop inductors and transformers
• Partner with manufacturing teams to ensure efficient, high-yield production and transition to high-volume manufacturing

Requirements

• Strong understanding of power electronics converters and magnetics design for high-frequency applications
• Hands-on hardware experience in custom magnetics design for power electronics
• Deep understanding of power conversion topologies, control strategies, and switching device characteristics
• Experience with PCB layout and proficiency using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and signal generators
• Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM), WCCA, and DFMEA
• BS/MS degree in Electrical Engineering (PhD preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with magnetics simulation tools such as Ansys
• Experience with schematic capture and circuit simulation tools
• Knowledge of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)
• Familiarity with environmental, reliability, and safety requirements for automotive applications
• Experience in planar magnetics or OCB winding design
