Sr Plumber Steamfitter/Maintenance Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and varied plumbing, steam fitting, and mechanical duties for University housing facilities
• Work independently within a designated zone or as the sole mechanic on a specific campus
• Estimate work requirements and procure necessary materials for individual or group tasks
• Guide and instruct craft trainees and other plumbing/steam fitting mechanics
• Execute work orders with minimal instruction or assistance
• Perform general duties in other trade areas as assigned

Requirements

• High school or vocational school education (or equivalent)
• 4 years of experience performing plumbing and steam fitting tasks
• Valid driver's license with at least 2 years of driving experience
• Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals and blueprints
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Successful completion of the Rutgers Defensive Driving Course (required after hire)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with welding and brazing
• Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
