About the role
Responsibilities
- Administer end-to-end biweekly and monthly payroll cycles for exempt and non-exempt populations.
- Ensure compliance with garnishments, bonus/severance coordination, and payout tracking.
- Resolve payroll errors and system issues by analyzing data and researching solutions.
- Identify process improvement initiatives and define standards for new procedures.
- Oversee maintenance of payroll files and respond to outside information requests.
- Conduct periodic audits of payroll processes to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
- Partner with Finance, Compensation, and Benefits teams to act as a payroll resource.
- Assist with SOX controls, system upgrade testing, and year-end activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or 5 years of relevant work experience.
- 3+ years of experience in end-to-end payroll processing within a large multi-state corporation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, specifically with pivot tables and lookups.
- Thorough knowledge of payroll-related state, legal, tax, and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated understanding of basic accounting principles, including journal entries and reconciliations.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, data-driven, and decentralized environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience with Workday Payroll.
- A proactive, high-energy attitude focused on continuous improvement.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with project teams, consultants, and implementation partners.
