About the role

Responsibilities

  • Administer end-to-end biweekly and monthly payroll cycles for exempt and non-exempt populations.
  • Ensure compliance with garnishments, bonus/severance coordination, and payout tracking.
  • Resolve payroll errors and system issues by analyzing data and researching solutions.
  • Identify process improvement initiatives and define standards for new procedures.
  • Oversee maintenance of payroll files and respond to outside information requests.
  • Conduct periodic audits of payroll processes to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Partner with Finance, Compensation, and Benefits teams to act as a payroll resource.
  • Assist with SOX controls, system upgrade testing, and year-end activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in end-to-end payroll processing within a large multi-state corporation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, specifically with pivot tables and lookups.
  • Thorough knowledge of payroll-related state, legal, tax, and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated understanding of basic accounting principles, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, data-driven, and decentralized environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience with Workday Payroll.
  • A proactive, high-energy attitude focused on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with project teams, consultants, and implementation partners.
