Sr Packaging Designer

Responsibilities

• Create breakthrough brand visual identities for new Mattel Venture toy packaging from concept through production
• Build brand guidelines, styleguides, visual toolkits, and design systems including typography, color, and graphic language
• Partner on packaging strategy and design execution to ensure work is strategically grounded and visually distinctive
• Translate business strategy and consumer insights into clear creative narratives for executive stakeholders
• Use AI tools effectively to accelerate ideation, mood development, and creative workflow efficiency
• Direct internal designers and external partners, including illustrators, photographers, and vendors
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as product design, marketing, engineering, and legal to ensure scalable execution

Requirements

• 3-5+ years of progressive experience in packaging design, graphic design, or related roles
• A portfolio demonstrating exceptional taste, visual sophistication, and the ability to create design systems from the ground up
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and modern design workflows
• Demonstrated familiarity with AI-enabled creative tools and workflows
• Experience establishing packaging brand guidelines and styleguides
• Strong presentation and communication skills with the ability to articulate design vision
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience launching new brands, sub-brands, or franchise extensions
• Background in toys, entertainment, licensed IP, or consumer products
• Experience developing omnichannel brand assets for retail, e-commerce, and social media
• Experience working with overseas partners and managing creative quality through production
