About the role

Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize all ocean transportation operations, including booking, documentation, tracking, and exception management
  • Oversee carrier selection and maintain strong relationships with ocean carriers and freight forwarders
  • Support procurement by negotiating freight contracts, rates, and service agreements
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and monitor ocean freight spend against budget targets
  • Mitigate risks related to port congestion, capacity constraints, and shipment delays
  • Resolve shipment disruptions, claims, and disputes with carriers in a timely manner
  • Track and report on KPIs such as transit time, on-time delivery, and cost per TEU

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in ocean freight or logistics operations
  • Strong knowledge of Incoterms (e.g., DAP, FCA, FOB, CIF)
  • Proven experience with ocean carrier contracts and rate negotiations
  • Proficiency in TMS, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in ocean freight or logistics operations
  • Experience managing North America (US/CAN) or global ocean logistics
  • Knowledge of port operations and drayage coordination
  • Experience with digital freight platforms and visibility tools
  • Advanced Excel skills
