Sr Mechanical Engineer, Equipment Design

Responsibilities

• Design and integrate precision mechanical systems including robotics, linear motors, and air bearings
• Collaborate on machine vision systems, pneumatic actuators, and sensor integration
• Lead mechanical design of dispensing, curing, and metrology tools for clean room environments
• Perform design analysis, simulations, and bench-top prototyping
• Optimize machine frames for stability and repeatability
• Troubleshoot and iterate on designs based on testing feedback
• Work cross-functionally with electrical, software, and manufacturing teams
• Document designs through specifications, drawings, and manuals

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical design for precision manufacturing or automation
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Expertise in designing systems with micron-level precision
• Hands-on experience with CAD software (CREO preferred)
• Familiarity with pneumatic and electromechanical components
• Knowledge of clean room standards and manufacturing processes
• Ability to conduct FEA, tolerance stack-ups, and failure mode assessments
• Experience in prototyping and testing in resource-constrained environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Experience with machine vision cameras or optical systems
• Familiarity with air bearings or advanced constraint design
• Background in optics manufacturing or robotics
• Proficiency in simulation tools like ANSYS or MATLAB
