About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a department of mechanical engineering professionals, front-line managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Provide technical guidance, career development, and performance management for the engineering team.
  • Manage staff utilization, support workforce planning, and develop the skill mix for the existing and future portfolio.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects to ensure they meet quality, budget, and timeline constraints.
  • Drive functional metrics in project execution, innovation, and continuous improvement of engineering processes.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies, including ITAR, EAR, and CUI data handling.
  • Participate in strategic planning and serve as a technical advisor for complex engineering issues.
  • Review program portfolios to ensure performance and ensure all bids are compliant with requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with at least 12 years of related engineering experience (or equivalent experience as specified).
  • At least 5 years of experience in UAS technology, electronics packaging, or weapon and sensor design.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a functional management or leadership role.
  • Ability to obtain a US Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven track record of managing and delivering large-scale developmental engineering projects.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering and product lifecycle management.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Familiarity with defense industry standards and practices.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and decision-making skills.
