Sr Legal Counsel

Responsibilities

• Provide clear, pragmatic, and solution-oriented legal advice to enable business strategy while managing legal risk.
• Participate in complex problem resolution, providing expert legal advice on high-stakes issues and disputes.
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations and manage legal risks by developing comprehensive risk management frameworks.
• Partner with business counterparts across the enterprise to drive the delivery of effective legal services.
• Manage data security incidents from a legal perspective, including incident scoping, privilege preservation, and coordinating cross-functional teams.
• Manage regulatory reporting timelines and draft notifications compliant with ICO, EU, FCA, and U.S. regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant legal experience.
• Juris Doctorate (JD) degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated experience managing data security incidents and operating within an enterprise incident response program.
• Cybersecurity subject matter expertise with knowledge of frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR, SOC 2, or CCPA.
• Experience with regulatory reporting and managing multijurisdictional notification obligations.

• Fintech industry experience.
• Knowledge of cutting-edge IT, web, mobile, and payment ecosystem technologies and their data security implications.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• High level of intellectual and professional agility with a high tolerance for ambiguity.
