About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee import and export operations, ensuring smooth execution and full compliance with local and global requirements.
- Coordinate end-to-end logistics processes, working closely with forwarders, internal teams, and supply chain stakeholders.
- Prepare and manage key documentation, including invoices, electronic manifests, and regulatory filings, ensuring accuracy and audit readiness.
- Act as a key point of contact for Customs Brokers, supervising performance and regularly auditing customs expenses.
- Supervise HS code assignments to ensure compliance with local regulations.
- Monitor shipments in transit and proactively address risks to ensure continuity of supply.
- Identify and implement efficient transportation strategies to balance cost, service level, and operational needs.
- Analyze freight expenses and drive initiatives to optimize costs and improve logistics performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Foreign Trade, Customs, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in import/export, logistics, or supply chain operations within the Healthcare industry (Medtech or Pharma).
- Familiarity with COFEPRIS processes and applicable regulations.
- Strong understanding of global trade processes and management of Customs Brokers, Forwarders, and 3PLs.
- Experience managing export/import documentation and compliance requirements.
- Advanced Intermediate English proficiency (B2 level).
- Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP or JDA, and data tools like Power BI.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within Mexican Customs or highly regulated customs environments.
- Exposure to regulatory audits and formal compliance processes.
- A continuous improvement mindset focused on efficiency and innovation.
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
