About the role
Responsibilities
- Drive reliability risk identification, assessment, and mitigation for datacenter infrastructure equipment including generators, transformers, and UPS systems.
- Perform root cause analysis of critical equipment failures and implement continuous improvements to enhance datacenter availability.
- Use Physics-of-Failure based approaches to develop analytical and empirical methods for product quality and reliability risk assessment.
- Drive AWS application-specific requirements through lifecycle environmental and operational stress-driven risk analysis (thermal, electrical, chemical, and mechanical).
- Identify critical components and establish vendor selection, qualification requirements, and reliability metrics.
- Develop datacenter system-level reliability models and perform risk analysis for configuration optimization using tools like reliability block diagrams and statistical modeling.
- Monitor product performance in the field and drive corrective and preventive actions.
Requirements
- 10+ years of Reliability Engineering experience in a high-reliability industry.
- 6+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience.
- 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission-critical facilities (e.g., data centers, power generation, or oil and gas).
- 5+ years of root cause analysis, troubleshooting, or problem-solving experience.
- 3+ years of experience with accelerated life testing, stress analysis, and finite element analysis.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Reliability Engineering, Physics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering.
- Professional Engineering or Architectural License.
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into mass production.
- Proven experience working with external design and manufacturing supply chain partners.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations relevant to the region.
