Sr Engineering Team Lead - Database - Platform

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and mentor a high-performing Database Platform team to deliver high-impact solutions.
• Support the team with occasional hands-on involvement in software engineering and systems operations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional leads, engineers, and product managers across the organization.
• Drive automation strategy, scalability, and reliability for a vast estate of database technologies.
• Take ownership of vendor negotiations and communicate technical costs to the business.
• Foster a culture of operational excellence and proactive problem-solving.

Requirements

• Solid background in development, specifically within Python or Java ecosystems.
• Expertise in leveraging cloud services such as AWS or GCP to build scalable infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL database technologies, including high availability and security.
• Proven experience leading Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams.
• Deep understanding of system design and engineering principles.
• Experience guiding engineering teams through complex project delivery using Agile methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and configuration management (Ansible, Packer).
• Proficiency with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions.
• Knowledge of workflow orchestration solutions such as Temporal, Cadence, or AWS Step Functions.
• Strong security and privacy advocacy, including the principle of least privilege.
