About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide technical engineering support for commercial biologics manufacturing, focusing on upstream and downstream process systems and equipment.
- Serve as a technical lead for equipment design, process design, operational readiness, and capital project execution.
- Lead troubleshooting and technical investigations related to process equipment, automation interactions, and operational performance.
- Support the design, construction, commissioning, and qualification (C&Q) of new manufacturing equipment and facility modifications.
- Review and approve engineering deliverables including P&IDs, equipment specifications, and FAT/SAT protocols.
- Implement engineering-based improvements to optimize equipment reliability, throughput, and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Process Development, Quality, and Automation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and 4 years of Engineering experience
- Master's degree and 2 years of Engineering experience
- Doctorate degree
- Associate's degree and 8 years of Engineering experience
- High school diploma and 10 years of Engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Bioprocess Engineering
- Experience supporting GMP biopharmaceutical manufacturing operations
- Direct knowledge of bioreactors, centrifuges, chromatography systems, UFDF skids, and single-use technologies
- Experience with Commissioning & Qualification (C&Q) and capital project execution
- Knowledge of GMP quality systems including change controls, deviations, and CAPAs
- Experience with DeltaV or other process automation systems
