About the role
Responsibilities
- Design and develop new computer room air conditioning (CRAC) products, including electrical layouts and component selection.
- Create, evaluate, and review electrical box and panel layouts to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Develop 2D and 3D revision-controlled CAD for electro-mechanical assemblies, wire harnesses, and electrical schematics using PDM tools.
- Manage Bills of Material (BOM) and product definitions within PLM tools to support manufacturing and service.
- Collaborate across mechanical, electrical, and process engineering disciplines to meet cost metrics and design requirements.
- Lead engineering tasks for projects, guiding junior engineers to meet established timelines.
- Support manufacturing through prototypes, pilot builds, and Design For Manufacturability (DFM) processes.
- Implement product changes to resolve field issues and support the service department.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or a related degree from an accredited institution.
- 10+ years of experience in new product development as an individual contributor.
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (CREO 4.0 or greater preferred).
- Deep knowledge of electrical standards including NEC (NFPA70), IEEE 519, and UL 508A SB.
- Familiarity with UL60335-2-40 or equivalent CSA/UL standards.
- Hands-on experience with VFD programming and troubleshooting.
- Experience with communication protocols including RS485, CAN, and Ethernet.
- Strong project management and communication skills.
