Sr Director, Protein Biochemistry and Lab Automation

Responsibilities

• Set the vision and develop short- and long-term strategies for research capabilities through integrated informatics and automation solutions.
• Scope, design, and implement high-throughput automated molecular biology and protein sciences workflows.
• Lead the Protein Biochemistry team in developing recombinant DNA and protein expression, purification, and characterization strategies.
• Provide critical protein reagents to enable small and large molecule lead identification, screening assay cascades, and structural biology studies.
• Oversee externalized activities at CROs, including protocol transfer and quality control of protein samples.
• Partner with IT and Informatics to streamline structured data capture for analytics and data sciences.
• Manage and develop a team of PhD and non-PhD scientists, including people managers.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, structural biology, or a highly related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in a relevant scientific field.
• Subject matter expertise in recombinant protein generation using bacterial and insect cells.
• Proven track record in designing and managing high-throughput automation systems integrating hardware and software solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• 14+ years of experience including postdoctoral training and significant industry experience.
• Proficiency in antibody discovery, biologics engineering, and developability assessment.
• Experience serving as a small or large molecule project team leader or core team member.
