Sr Director of Software Engineering

Responsibilities

• Set strategic direction for engineering and architecture across product areas
• Lead multiple technical departments and collaborate across technical domains
• Deliver end-to-end low-latency solutions using cutting-edge technologies
• Engage with business stakeholders to translate complex problems into technical specifications
• Champion engineering practices through coaching, mentoring, and impediment resolution
• Partner with Architecture and SRE teams to drive modernization and non-functional requirements
• Maintain detailed technology roadmaps and ensure alignment with organizational goals
• Manage governance for coding decisions, regulatory compliance, and control obligations

Requirements

• 10+ years of applied software engineering experience
• 5+ years of experience leading technologists and managing complex technical domains
• Proven experience working within the Payments domain
• Extensive experience designing full-stack, cloud-native distributed systems
• Proficiency in Java Spring and building scalable, fault-tolerant systems
• Hands-on experience with large-scale data using PostgreSQL or Oracle databases
• Strong ability to influence stakeholders in a highly matrixed organization

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of building AI applications or agents
• Experience working in highly regulated environments such as Banking or Finance
