Sr Director of Software Engineering - AI/ML platforms

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple technology implementations across departments to achieve firmwide objectives in machine learning, LLMs, search, and agentic systems.
• Manage strategic initiatives focused on the development, deployment, and monitoring of advanced ML and AI solutions.
• Provide high-level direction to cross-functional teams, overseeing the end-to-end lifecycle of AI/ML projects from ideation to production.
• Set and scale multi-department strategy for agentic AI-enabled engineering and SDLC/TLM automation.
• Act as the primary interface with senior leaders and stakeholders to drive consensus on intelligent operations.
• Develop and mentor high-performing teams of data scientists, ML engineers, and AI researchers.
• Ensure best practices in model governance, data privacy, and ethical AI across complex, matrixed organizations.

Requirements

• 10+ years of applied experience in machine learning, artificial intelligence, LLMs, search, and agentic systems.
• 5+ years of experience leading technologists and managing complex technical domains.
• Advanced degree (PhD or Master’s) in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field.
• Deep expertise in LLM architectures, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), fine-tuning, and intelligent agentic systems.
• Extensive practical cloud-native experience and expertise in ML/AI platforms and MLOps.
• Proven experience influencing senior stakeholders and delivering value at scale within complex organizations.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI risk, controls, and security expectations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Publications or patents in machine learning, artificial intelligence, or related domains.
• Hands-on experience working at the code level with cloud-based ML platforms.
