Sr Data Scientist, Credit Risk Oversight

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of advanced data science models to support credit risk oversight.
• Provide analytical support for the Second Line oversight of Small Business Lending and Buy Now Pay Later products.
• Ensure portfolio management aligns with strategic goals, risk appetite, and regulatory environments.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and drive best practices in data science.
• Ensure data quality and integrity across all analytical processes.
• Mentor and guide junior data scientists within the team.
• Assess and review current credit strategies and exposure limits to ensure alignment with risk appetite.

Requirements

• 3+ years of relevant experience in data science or a related analytical field.
• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify patterns and derive business insights.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Solid understanding of Credit Risk principles and fundamentals.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in statistics, mathematics, computer science, or engineering.
• 2+ years of experience specifically in credit risk management or lending.
• Experience in merchant or small business lending environments.
• Understanding of Second Line of Defense (2LoD) functions.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
