Sr. Control System Engineer/Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)

Responsibilities

• Implement, maintain and test software and hardware in a heterogeneous system that controls disparate computer system devices
• Define, document, implement and test procedures for QuEra’s Quantum computer operations
• Manage science, development and testing infrastructure, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) setups, containerized services (K8S), routers, switches and test systems
• Propose and implement automated provisioning, configuration, and orchestration of local and remote compute systems
• Collaborate with software and test engineering teams to ensure smooth integration/deployment of DevOps tools
• Maintain artifact repositories, test result dashboards, and infrastructure for tracking regressions and system health
• Establish and enforce best practices for access control, system configuration, and lab operations
• Support incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for CI/CD failures or system anomalies
• Implement automation for monitoring and alerting for systems and services
• Work with CI/CD pipelines for building, testing, and deploying software and firmware

Requirements

• Practical implementation of LAN and WAN technologies (VLAN, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP)
• Practical Linux (Ubuntu, Debian, Redhat) and Windows Administration experience
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Go
• Familiarity with Docker, Git, and Kubernetes
• Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins) and infrastructure-as-code (Ansible, Terraform)
• Familiarity with observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK stack)
• Hands on experience with rack mount servers
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 10+ years of experience in Network SQA, Systems Engineering, SRE, or infrastructure engineering roles

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting hybrid systems involving embedded devices or real-time control systems
• Knowledge of secure software deployment and Product life cycles
• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop pipelines or distributed lab/test automation environments
• Exposure to scientific computing, HPC, or quantum software stacks
