Sr. Buyer, General Purchasing

Responsibilities

• Act as a regional subject matter expert for transportation and logistics commodities across Mexico, Nicaragua, El Salvador, and the USA.
• Develop and execute procurement strategies for various modes of transportation, including road, sea, and air freight.
• Research, select, and negotiate with competitive service providers to ensure optimal cost, quality, and delivery.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements within manufacturing operations.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with global suppliers.
• Lead improvement activities and workshops to drive adherence to company standards.
• Process requisitions and provide regular status updates to management.

Requirements

• BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial) or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in Purchasing, specifically focusing on Indirect and Logistics categories.
• Proven experience in transportation or logistics services.
• Bilingual proficiency in both Spanish and English (verbal and written).
• Strong negotiation skills and the ability to work independently with high autonomy.
• Willingness to travel frequently between plants in Mexico and other international locations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with service providers from the perspective of a final customer.
• Strong critical thinking and analytical skills for complex decision-making.
• Experience managing procurement for large-scale manufacturing operations.
