About the role

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full business development lifecycle for Office of the Secretary of War pursuits, focusing on Research and Engineering.
  • Lead capture activities by developing win strategies, capture plans, and opportunity shaping plans.
  • Translate customer needs and operational gaps into actionable program requirements and win strategies.
  • Develop and execute customer engagement plans to build understanding of mission challenges and funding pathways.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders across the Pentagon and partner organizations.
  • Partner with internal technical and business development teams to mature offerings and shape pursuits.
  • Support proposal development by contributing to strategy, messaging, and written content.
  • Brief pipeline status, pursuit strategy, and closure plans to senior and executive leadership.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of relevant experience supporting the Department of War or closely related defense sectors.
  • Recent experience working with the Department of War and familiarity with Pentagon hypersonic priorities.
  • In-depth expertise in hypersonic technology and the value of hypersonic flight systems.
  • Proven experience with acquisition processes, strategic planning, and opportunity shaping.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform hands-on capture and proposal work as an individual contributor.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for executive-level briefing and proposal writing.
  • Ability to work on-site in Washington, DC, with travel required (25–50%) to various mission sites.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, National Security Studies, Public Policy, or a related field.
  • Strong background in capture management or business development leadership.
  • Established professional network within the aerospace industry and government agencies.
  • Experience as part of a business leadership team at a significant divisional level.
