Sports Multi-Skilled Journalist

Responsibilities

• Enterprise sports stories that go beyond the scoreboard, including features, profiles, and deep coverage of local athletics.
• Produce and report on sports segments across multiple newscasts with energetic and engaging delivery.
• Co-anchor and co-produce the seasonal weekly show “Connecticut Game Week,” covering UConn sports.
• Perform live shots from games, press conferences, practices, and breaking news situations.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with coaches, players, and athletic departments.
• Break sports news on digital platforms and create mobile-first content, including vertical videos and streaming app updates.

Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to shoot, write, and edit high-quality sports stories under tight deadlines.
• Ability to thrive during live breaking news situations.
• Excellent news and sports judgment with strong communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and the ability to operate a news-gathering vehicle.
• Must be organized, deadline-driven, and comfortable juggling multiple assignments daily.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.
• On-air sports reporting or anchoring experience.
• Familiarity with vMix, EDIUS, and graphic creation.
