Sports Leader

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and lead engaging, safe, and active sports-focused day camp programming for children and youth
• Provide leadership, training, and guidance to staff involved in sports activities
• Foster a fun, positive, and inclusive environment that promotes teamwork and good sportsmanship
• Ensure the physical safety and well-being of campers by following established safety procedures and risk management practices
• Prepare and maintain sports equipment, activity spaces, and program materials
• Adapt activities to meet the varying ages, abilities, and needs of campers to encourage inclusion
• Monitor and supervise campers during activities, transitions, and outdoor play
• Support the emotional wellness, social development, and spiritual growth of campers

Requirements

• Minimum of Grade 10 completed
• Up to 1 year of experience working directly with children in a day camp setting
• Must be between the ages of 17 and 30 (Canada Summer Jobs Program requirement)
• Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person (International students are not eligible)
• Ability to lift, carry, or move up to 29 lbs
• Ability to pass a Police Record Check (vulnerable sector check)

Preferred Qualifications

• Current valid Standard First Aid + CPR & AED (Intermediate First Aid) certification
