About the role

Responsibilities

  • Manage all conference and national sports information and statistical requirements for Canada West and U SPORTS.
  • Perform scorekeeping and stats notation during live games across various sports.
  • Produce communications content, including game previews, recaps, feature stories, and annual team programs.
  • Maintain the UBCO Heat website and support social media outlets (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.).
  • Lead varsity game day operations, including video board production, event scripting, and facility hosting.
  • Act as the primary on-venue liaison for visiting teams, officials, and external stakeholders.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise a team of approximately 20 student employees.
  • Coordinate media interview requests and manage award nominations.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong scorekeeping and stats notation skills.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours, including evenings and weekends for home games.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in media, communications, or journalism.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, InDesign).
  • Experience with StatCrew or Daktronics statistical systems.
  • Previous experience working in a live sports environment.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
