About the role

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain motorized vehicles including pick-up trucks, ice flooding machines, field grooming machines, and snow blowers
  • Maintain various sport playing surfaces such as natural grass, AstroTurf, ice surfaces, and basketball/volleyball courts
  • Perform facility upkeep, including troubleshooting equipment deficiencies and conducting minor maintenance
  • Set up and maintain sporting equipment for university and external customer events
  • Execute general facility tasks such as shoveling snow, sweeping, mopping, marking fields, and cleaning locker rooms
  • Manage inventory of supplies and ensure equipment is stored in an orderly manner
  • Provide guidance and assistance to casual staff as directed

Requirements

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a sport facility operator
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience operating an ice resurfacer
  • Valid Provincial Class G driver's license
  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment up to 25kgs
  • Strong communication, diplomacy, and conflict management skills
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and seasons

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of the ORFA Ice Maintenance course
  • Experience maintaining diverse sport playing surfaces
  • Extensive front-line customer service experience
