About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide direct, compassionate, and patient-centered spiritual care to patients, families, and staff within assigned clinical areas.
- Support the spiritual, emotional, cultural, and faith-based needs of individuals while respecting diverse beliefs and traditions.
- Provide specialized support to patients, families, and staff throughout the Medical Aid in Dying (MAID) process.
- Lead and collaborate on corporate-led ceremonies and commemorative events, such as Remembrance Day and patient memorials.
- Participate in professional development and educational activities to maintain excellence in spiritual care services.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, volunteers, and community resources.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Theology or Spiritual Care.
- Current membership with the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC/ACSS).
- Registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
- Proven clinical experience in a healthcare setting.
- Strong counseling and clinical skills with a commitment to confidentiality.
- Ability to relate theology and behavioral sciences to spiritual care work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Spiritual Care with the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC/ACSS).
- Completion of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) units.
