Speech Pathologist, Adults

Responsibilities

• Evaluate inpatient and outpatient customers with communication and swallowing disorders
• Plan and provide speech/language and/or swallowing therapy to meet patient care needs
• Write daily progress notes and maintain written documentation of all patient transactions
• Attend weekly patient care rounds to maintain multidisciplinary interaction and cooperation
• Provide basic science lectures and in-service instruction for medical students and nursing staff
• Assist in the development and conduct of clinical research and quality improvement projects
• Manage administrative duties including departmental charge forms and supply monitoring

Requirements

• Master of Science/Arts in Speech-Language Pathology
• Eligibility for ASHA certification
• Current Illinois State licensure in Speech-Language Pathology
• Computer and typing proficiency (minimum 30 words per minute)
• Ability to handle sensitive matters with tact, courtesy, and discretion

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-3 years of clinical experience
• Experience in an acute care setting, including tracheostomy management
• Experience in the assessment and treatment of dysphagia across diverse populations
• Experience with acquired neurogenic communication disorders in rehabilitation settings
• Proficiency with Videofluoroscopic Swallow studies (VFSS)
• Experience conducting Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES)
