About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide assessment and treatment for adult patients with communication and swallowing disorders
- Work within a progressive multi-professional team and participate in rounds and meetings
- Assist with coverage across other clinical service areas as necessary
- Act within the scope of practice of a speech-language pathologist
- Prioritize tasks and adapt to changes in clinical needs with short notice
- Exercise sound judgement and maintain professional demeanor in stressful environments
Requirements
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent
- Registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO)
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to evidence-based practice and lifelong learning
Preferred Qualifications
- Membership with the Ontario Association of Speech-Language Pathologist and Audiologists (OSLA)
- 2 years of experience in an acute care hospital
- Experience assessing and treating General Internal Medicine and Oncology patients
- Experience in professional education, presentations, and in-services
- Experience with Surgical, Nephrology, Cardiac, and ICU patient populations
- Computer literacy
- Experience in development and monitoring of quality indicators
