Speech Language Pathologist

Responsibilities

• Provide assessment and treatment for adult patients with communication and swallowing disorders
• Work within a progressive multi-professional team and participate in rounds and meetings
• Assist with coverage across other clinical service areas as necessary
• Act within the scope of practice of a speech-language pathologist
• Prioritize tasks and adapt to changes in clinical needs with short notice
• Exercise sound judgement and maintain professional demeanor in stressful environments

Requirements

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent
• Registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO)
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
• Commitment to evidence-based practice and lifelong learning

Preferred Qualifications

• Membership with the Ontario Association of Speech-Language Pathologist and Audiologists (OSLA)
• 2 years of experience in an acute care hospital
• Experience assessing and treating General Internal Medicine and Oncology patients
• Experience in professional education, presentations, and in-services
• Experience with Surgical, Nephrology, Cardiac, and ICU patient populations
• Computer literacy
• Experience in development and monitoring of quality indicators
