Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA)

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed SLPs in conducting individual and group therapy sessions for students with IEPs
• Implement treatment plans and therapy techniques as directed by the supervising SLP
• Monitor and document student progress and responses to therapy activities
• Interact with students in a warm, caring manner to create a positive therapeutic experience
• Engage students in activities to stimulate communication and language development
• Maintain student records, progress notes, and documentation in compliance with AZ Department of Education standards
• Coordinate scheduling of therapy sessions with the supervising SLP
• Collaborate with SLPs and school staff to facilitate a multidisciplinary approach
• Communicate with families to reinforce therapeutic strategies at home
• Participate in professional development and stay updated on best practices in pediatric speech therapy

Requirements

• Associate's degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program or related field; Bachelor's degree preferred
• Certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) or eligibility for certification
• Experience working with pediatric populations
• Knowledge of speech therapy techniques, methodologies, materials, and tools
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a dynamic therapy team
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation and record-keeping
• Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
