Requirements
Associate's degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program or related field; Bachelor's preferred, SLPA certification or eligibility, Experience working with pediatric populations, Knowledge of speech therapy techniques, methodologies, materials, and tools, Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation, Ability to work collaboratively as part of a dynamic therapy team
About the role
Responsibilities
- Assist licensed SLPs in conducting individual and group therapy sessions for students with IEPs
- Implement treatment plans and therapy techniques as directed by the supervising SLP
- Monitor and document student progress and responses to therapy activities
- Interact with students in a warm, caring manner to create a positive therapeutic experience
- Engage students in activities to stimulate communication and language development
- Maintain student records, progress notes, and documentation in compliance with AZ Department of Education standards
- Coordinate scheduling of therapy sessions with the supervising SLP
- Collaborate with SLPs and school staff to facilitate a multidisciplinary approach
- Communicate with families to reinforce therapeutic strategies at home
- Participate in professional development and stay updated on best practices in pediatric speech therapy
Requirements
- Associate's degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program or related field; Bachelor's degree preferred
- Certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) or eligibility for certification
- Experience working with pediatric populations
- Knowledge of speech therapy techniques, methodologies, materials, and tools
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a dynamic therapy team
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation and record-keeping
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
