Speech and Language Therapist

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and manage speech, language, communication, and swallowing needs for young people and adults with complex SEND, including PMLD and behavioural challenges
• Design and deliver individualised and group therapy programmes tailored to learners’ functional goals and educational outcomes
• Provide specialist guidance, modelling, and training to teaching staff, support workers, and families
• Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) processes, annual reviews, and multi-disciplinary team meetings
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with professional and legal standards
• Support service development and best practice, including mentoring junior colleagues or students

Requirements

• Recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy
• HCPC registration and membership (or eligibility) with the RCSLT
• Experience working with young people or adults with SEND, PMLD, or complex communication needs
• Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and collaborative skills
