About the role
Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and treat a specialist caseload of service users with complex needs in inpatient and community settings
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate individual and group interventions, including advanced dysphagia management
- Lead in area of expertise, offering guidance to colleagues, health professionals, and carers
- Supervise and train less experienced therapists, assistants, and students
- Participate in audits, service evaluations, and research
- Manage therapy equipment and maintain accurate clinical records
Requirements
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
- HCPC and RCSLT registration
- Completion of RCSLT Level C / EDS Level 5 Specialist Dysphagia Practitioner Competencies
- Evidence of ongoing CPD and specialist training
- Proven ability to independently manage a complex caseload using evidence-based practice
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Confidence in leading training and supporting staff development
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults
