Speech and Language Therapist

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and treat a specialist caseload of service users with complex needs in inpatient and community settings
• Plan, deliver, and evaluate individual and group interventions, including advanced dysphagia management
• Lead in area of expertise, offering guidance to colleagues, health professionals, and carers
• Supervise and train less experienced therapists, assistants, and students
• Participate in audits, service evaluations, and research
• Manage therapy equipment and maintain accurate clinical records

Requirements

• Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
• HCPC and RCSLT registration
• Completion of RCSLT Level C / EDS Level 5 Specialist Dysphagia Practitioner Competencies
• Evidence of ongoing CPD and specialist training
• Proven ability to independently manage a complex caseload using evidence-based practice
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Confidence in leading training and supporting staff development
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults
