Degree in Speech and Language Therapy, HCPC registration, RCSLT membership, Acute inpatient experience
About the role
Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and manage adults presenting with communication and swallowing disorders within acute inpatient services
- Deliver evidence-based interventions for patients with dysphagia, acquired communication disorders, and neurological conditions
- Undertake comprehensive swallowing assessments and provide management plans for safe nutrition and hydration
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including medical staff, nursing, dietitians, and physiotherapists
- Participate in ward rounds, case discussions, and discharge planning meetings
- Maintain accurate clinical records in accordance with professional standards
- Provide advice and support to patients, families, and healthcare professionals
Requirements
- Recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy
- Current HCPC registration
- Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT)
- Previous experience in adult acute inpatient services
- Experience managing dysphagia and complex communication needs
- Strong clinical reasoning and organisational skills
