Speech and Language Therapist

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and manage adults presenting with communication and swallowing disorders within acute inpatient services
• Deliver evidence-based interventions for patients with dysphagia, acquired communication disorders, and neurological conditions
• Undertake comprehensive swallowing assessments and provide management plans for safe nutrition and hydration
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including medical staff, nursing, dietitians, and physiotherapists
• Participate in ward rounds, case discussions, and discharge planning meetings
• Maintain accurate clinical records in accordance with professional standards
• Provide advice and support to patients, families, and healthcare professionals

Requirements

• Recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy
• Current HCPC registration
• Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT)
• Previous experience in adult acute inpatient services
• Experience managing dysphagia and complex communication needs
• Strong clinical reasoning and organisational skills
