Specifications Writer

Responsibilities

• Prepare comprehensive project specifications for assignments of varying scale, complexity, and building type.
• Develop, maintain, and update firmwide master specifications in coordination with other specification writers.
• Ensure alignment between in-house project specifications and consultant specifications to facilitate seamless coordination.
• Plan, schedule, and manage specification workloads to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Research, evaluate, and recommend building products, systems, materials, and construction methods.
• Maintain knowledge of industry trends, new technologies, and evolving code requirements.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with product representatives and industry specialists.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in the design and construction industry.
• Demonstrated expertise in specification writing.
• Strong ability to interpret, evaluate, and communicate requirements for materials and workmanship.
• Exceptional judgment, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• CSI Certified Construction Specifier (CCS) credential.
• Familiarity with e-Spec or similar specification software.
