Specialty Doctor in Adult Psychiatry

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership and psychiatric care to adults with diverse mental health needs
• Conduct thorough assessments, make diagnoses, and develop treatment plans
• Oversee care under the CPA as a Section 12-approved clinician
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams
• Support junior staff and contribute to service development and governance
• Engage families and external agencies to ensure holistic, person-centred care

Requirements

• Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
• Inclusion on the Specialist Register for General Adult Psychiatry (or within 6 months of CCT)
• Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status
• Experience working in inpatient and/or community mental health settings
• Strong leadership, communication, and clinical decision-making skills
• Commitment to continuous professional development and clinical governance
