Specialty Doctor in Adult Psychiatry

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality first-line medical care for inpatients
• Liaise effectively with external professionals, carers, GPs, and practice nurses
• Prepare written and oral evidence for Hospital Managers’ and Tribunal hearings
• Work towards safe discharges and complete necessary documentation and reports
• Participate in the on-call rota alongside Consultant Psychiatrists
• Attend CPA meetings and offer oral evidence under supervision
• Contribute to service development through clinical governance, audits, research, and teaching
• Conduct psychiatric assessments and arrange clinical tests
• Share responsibility for taking bloods and ECGs

Requirements

• Full GMC registration
• Experience working in psychiatry within multi-disciplinary teams
• Section 12 approved
• Approved Clinician status
