About the role
Responsibilities
- Autonomously manage a caseload providing expert assessment and intervention for patients with dysphagia and communication impairments
- Provide clinical cover for general and cardio thoracic critical care units
- Deliver input across various acute hospital wards including general and specialist medicine, general surgery, and front door services
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to contribute to patient care plans
Requirements
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent
- HCPC registration
- Extensive experience in the adult acute setting
- Highly specialist skills in managing dysphagia and communication impairments
- Experience with patients who have tracheostomies and are ventilator dependent
- Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Skills in Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES)
