Specialist, Software Engineer (Embedded Software)

Responsibilities

• Support the engineering team as a subject matter expert in embedded software application development
• Investigate root-cause of complex issues and implement solutions
• Apply computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis to software development for target hardware
• Develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software
• Participate in all phases of the SDLC including requirements, design, implementation, and testing
• Develop software test plans, procedures, and technical documentation
• Utilize modeling tools to conduct experimental tests and evaluate results
• Participate in peer reviews and repair defects
• Implement software using C/C++ and Python for embedded real-time operating systems

Requirements

• Active DoD Secret clearance
• Bachelor's Degree with 4+ years of relevant experience, or Graduate Degree with 2+ years of experience, or 8+ years of relevant experience
• 3+ years of experience developing applications on simulated and target hardware
• Experience using a Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) such as Green Hills Integrity or VxWorks

Preferred Qualifications

• Object-oriented design and implementation experience
• Experience with software modeling and UML tools (IBM Rhapsody, MagicDraw, or Cameo)
• Programming experience with Rust
• Experience developing device drivers and Board Support Packages (BSP)
• Proficiency with Modern C++ techniques
• Experience with Information Assurance or cryptography
• Experience with NSA Type 1 or DO-178 certification
