Specialist, Software Engineer (Embedded Software)

Responsibilities

• Translate requirements into working and maintainable embedded software solutions for C5 and Cyber Solution Centers
• Support the engineering team as a subject matter expert in embedded software application development
• Investigate root causes of complex issues and implement solutions independently or within multi-discipline teams
• Apply computer science, engineering, and mathematical principles to develop software for target hardware
• Work with cross-functional members to evaluate hardware-software interfaces and system performance
• Participate in all phases of the SDLC, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, and formal testing
• Develop software test plans, procedures, and technical documentation
• Utilize C/C++ and Python to implement software for embedded real-time operating systems
• Participate in peer reviews to identify, track, and repair defects

Requirements

• Active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 4+ years of relevant experience
• Or a Graduate Degree with 2+ years of relevant experience
• Or 8+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
• 3+ years of experience developing applications on simulated and target hardware
• Experience using a Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) such as Green Hills Integrity, VxWorks, or similar

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with object-oriented design and software modeling tools (e.g., IBM Rhapsody, MagicDraw, or Cameo)
• Proficiency with the Rust programming language
• Experience developing device drivers and Board Support Packages (BSP) for real-time embedded systems
• Experience with Modern C++ techniques
• Background in Information Assurance and/or cryptography
• Experience with NSA Type 1 certification or software certifications such as DO-178
