About the role
Responsibilities
- Translate requirements into working and maintainable embedded software solutions for C5 and Cyber Solution Centers
- Support the engineering team as a subject matter expert in embedded software application development
- Investigate root causes of complex issues and implement solutions independently or within multi-discipline teams
- Apply computer science, engineering, and mathematical principles to develop software for target hardware
- Work with cross-functional members to evaluate hardware-software interfaces and system performance
- Participate in all phases of the SDLC, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, and formal testing
- Develop software test plans, procedures, and technical documentation
- Utilize C/C++ and Python to implement software for embedded real-time operating systems
- Participate in peer reviews to identify, track, and repair defects
Requirements
- Active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 4+ years of relevant experience
- Or a Graduate Degree with 2+ years of relevant experience
- Or 8+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
- 3+ years of experience developing applications on simulated and target hardware
- Experience using a Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) such as Green Hills Integrity, VxWorks, or similar
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with object-oriented design and software modeling tools (e.g., IBM Rhapsody, MagicDraw, or Cameo)
- Proficiency with the Rust programming language
- Experience developing device drivers and Board Support Packages (BSP) for real-time embedded systems
- Experience with Modern C++ techniques
- Background in Information Assurance and/or cryptography
- Experience with NSA Type 1 certification or software certifications such as DO-178
