About the role
Responsibilities
- Manage telephone calls regarding acute poisoning and toxic exposures, providing appropriate care and treatment consultations.
- Triage calls and provide detailed drug and poison information to patients and healthcare providers.
- Respond to calls on the New Jersey State AIDS/STD Hotline, offering information, resources, and referrals.
- Obtain complete patient histories and assess the severity of calls to determine necessary follow-up.
- Utilize telephone systems, microcomputers, and backup systems to document and manage patient data.
- Apply knowledge of growth and development principles to provide age-appropriate care for diverse patient populations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a health science discipline.
- Must be a licensed Nurse, Pharmacist, or Physician.
- Detailed knowledge of pharmaceuticals and toxicological principles.
- Demonstrated knowledge of HIV/AIDS/STD symptoms, treatments, and testing.
- Excellent oral, written, and keyboard communication skills.
- Ability to work in a call center environment, including sitting or standing for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Clinical experience in healthcare settings.
- Experience in Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine, or Critical Care.
