Specialist Poison Information V

Responsibilities

• Manage telephone calls regarding acute poisoning and toxic exposures to provide appropriate care and treatment advice
• Provide expert consultation on patient care, triaging, and drug/poison information
• Respond to calls on the New Jersey State AIDS/STD Hotline, offering information, resources, and referrals
• Obtain complete patient histories and assess the severity of calls to determine necessary follow-up
• Utilize microcomputers, telephone systems, and backup systems to manage patient data and communications
• Apply knowledge of growth and development principles to provide age-appropriate care for diverse patient populations

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in a health science discipline (or equivalent related experience/education)
• Must be a licensed Nurse, Pharmacist, or Physician
• Detailed knowledge of pharmaceuticals and toxicological principles
• Demonstrated knowledge of HIV/AIDS/STD symptoms, treatments, and testing
• Ability to rotate through all shifts, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays
• Strong oral, written, and keyboard communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Clinical experience in Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine, or Critical Care
