Specialist Mold Worker (Toolmaker)

Responsibilities

• Support production equipment by building, modifying, and repairing mechanical components and complex molds for precision injection molding processes
• Set up and operate a variety of machine and hand tools, including CNC equipment
• Construct, repair, and assemble complex molds and mold parts
• Work from complex prints, drawings, and sketches to execute machining operations such as milling, turning, boring, and drilling
• Use algebra, trigonometry, or geometry to determine angles, hole locations, and dimensions
• Troubleshoot molds in use to identify defects and make modifications to flow patterns, pin locations, or venting
• Perform required welding, soldering, and heat treating tasks
• Maintain and repair precision measuring instruments

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Machinist Journeyman status, or four years of applicable experience (or military equivalent)
• Minimum 2-year Machine Tool Technology Degree
• Ability to work from complex technical prints
• Proficiency in algebra, trigonometry, or geometry
• Ability to pass a physical and practical assessment
