About the role
Responsibilities
- Play a key role in sourcing property, including overseas travel and client visits
- Drive business development and negotiation to meet sales and net profit targets
- Sell works to global clients and facilitate high-level private treaty sales
- Mentor junior team members to share skills and knowledge
- Catalog and research items for Modern British sales to high standards
- Maintain exceptionally high levels of client service and professionalism
- Prepare proposals and valuations for insurance and other purposes
- Operate in accordance with company compliance and corporate governance rules
Requirements
- Degree holder or equivalent, preferably an Art-related Master's
- 6+ years of professional experience in an auction house, gallery, or museum
- 2+ years in a client-facing sales position preferred
- Extensive knowledge of Modern & Post-War British Art and contextual literature
- Proven business acumen and valuation skills
- Functional knowledge of the auction process, including shipping and VAT
- High level of IT capability (Client System, Intellitrack, CAT, etc.)
- Ability to access archives and reference sources effectively
