Specialist, Materials and Process Engineer (Chemistry Lab)

Responsibilities

• Handle, process, and mix chemicals within a laboratory setting
• Operate and maintain complex lab instrumentation including FTIR, Instrons, DSC, Microtrac, titrators, and HPLC
• Sample and test raw materials, propellants, and explosives
• Prepare, collect, and perform mathematical calculations on raw test data
• Clean, assemble, and dismantle test hardware, equipment, and apparatus
• Perform laboratory support tasks such as instrument calibration, cleaning, inventory, and material handling
• Generate and report test data and documentation, including reviewing procedures for changes

Requirements

• Practical or theoretical knowledge of chemistry lab operations
• Bachelor’s Degree (Chemistry preferred) with at least 4 years of related experience
• OR a Graduate Degree (Chemistry preferred) with at least 2 years of related experience
• OR 8 years of related experience in lieu of a degree
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of testing explosives and energetic materials
• Experience with laboratory instrumentation specific to Rocket Propellant manufacturing
