About the role
Responsibilities
- Source property through overseas travel and client visits
- Drive new business generation and meet sales and net profit targets
- Negotiate and nurture long-term strategic business development
- Sell works to a global client base
- Mentor junior team members to share skills and knowledge
- Catalogue and research items for Impressionist & Modern Day sales
- Maintain high levels of client service and professional expertise
- Facilitate private treaty sales and prepare valuations and proposals
- Operate in accordance with company compliance and corporate governance
Requirements
- Degree holder or equivalent, preferably an Art-related Master's
- 6+ years of professional experience in an auction house, gallery, or museum
- 2+ years in a client-facing sales position preferred
- Expertise in Impressionist & Modern Art, contextual literature, and authentication
- Fluency in at least one European language, with German preferred
- Functional knowledge of the auction process and valuation skills
- High level of IT capability
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
