Specialist Engineer – Ergonomics

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of physical ergonomics development for cab and driver workspace in commercial vehicle programs.
• Define and develop driver workspace focusing on seat position, reach, posture, and accommodation.
• Lead visibility development for compliance and performance, including direct and indirect visibility assessments.
• Develop and validate entry/exit (ingress/egress) layouts, including step layouts and grab handles.
• Define sleeper area and co-driver comfort requirements, including bunk dimensions and storage accessibility.
• Evaluate and improve usability for service and access tasks performed outside the cab.
• Perform virtual validation and packaging studies using advanced simulation tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional global teams, including cab engineering, product design, and certification.

Requirements

• Strong experience in commercial vehicle ergonomics and cab development.
• Hands-on experience in driver packaging studies, visibility assessments, and comfort evaluations.
• Proficiency with engineering tools including CATIA, RAMSIS/DELMIA, CAVA, VRED, and IPS.
• Deep understanding of SAE standards (e.g., J1100, J826, J941) and global regulations for US, Europe, and Asia.
• Experience conducting driver clinics and performing anthropometric analysis.
• Ability to independently handle ergonomics for full programs or major features.
• Strong ownership mindset with the ability to drive engineering decisions.
