Specialist, Cyber Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate, test, and maintain software applications that support defensive cyber security capabilities.
• Implement security mechanisms including multi-factor authentication, encryption, endpoint protection, and vulnerability analysis.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot industry-standard tools such as Splunk, Elastic, Tenable, and Kubernetes.
• Utilize scripting frameworks including YAML, Java, Python, Ansible, Bash, SQL, and PowerShell.
• Manage CI/CD pipelines using GitLab Enterprise with a focus on software configuration management.
• Collaborate with systems engineers and commercial vendors to evaluate and integrate secure products and technologies.
• Integrate multiple cyber security controls into a unified and effective security architecture.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree with 4+ years of relevant cyber/software engineering experience, OR
• Graduate Degree with 2+ years of relevant cyber/software engineering experience, OR
• 8+ years of relevant cyber/software engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
• Active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance (or ability to obtain).
• Demonstrated experience with defensive cyber security software applications.
• Proficiency in CI/CD tools, specifically GitLab Enterprise.
• Experience with industry-standard security and infrastructure tools (e.g., Splunk, Elastic, Tenable, Redhat Linux, or OpenShift).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience assessing security and privacy controls in embedded systems using NIST 800-53.
• Experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF) accreditation and authorization processes.
• Prior leadership experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum Master or Product Owner.
• Knowledge of password management (Keepass, Ansible vaults) and container scanning.
• Experience with SAST/DAST and systems engineering best practices.
