Specialist, Chinese Works of Art

Responsibilities

• Drive new business generation and meet sales and profit targets for main and mid-season sales
• Source, authenticate, and evaluate Chinese Works of Art property
• Research and catalogue objects to high scholarly standards
• Manage catalogue production including photography coordination, layouts, and liaison with support departments
• Write condition reports and handle client enquiries via email, telephone, and in person
• Organize preview exhibitions in China and Hong Kong
• Mentor junior colleagues and provide input into departmental systems
• Assist with on-site auctions and telephone bidding

Requirements

• Degree education or equivalent
• 8+ years of proven experience in business getting and Chinese Works of Art expertise
• In-depth market knowledge and an established network of contacts within the CWOA market
• Functional knowledge of the auction process, including shipping, taxation, and compliance
• Fluency in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese (spoken and written)
• Strong research skills and exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to travel for regional sweeps, exhibitions, and client visits
